Fishing vs Phishing: Understanding the Difference
Fishing and phishing are two terms that sound similar but have completely different meanings. Fishing refers to the traditional activity of catching fish using various methods and equipment. In Pakistan, fishing is an important economic activity, especially in coastal areas like Karachi and Gwadar, where many communities depend on fishing for their livelihood.Phishing, on the other hand, is a cybercrime where attackers pretend to be legitimate organizations to steal sensitive information like passwords and credit card details. This digital threat has become increasingly common worldwide, including in Pakistan, where internet usage continues to grow rapidly.
While fishing has been part of human culture for thousands of years, phishing emerged with the digital age. Both activities involve \“catching\“ something, but one provides food and livelihood, while the other aims to exploit and harm unsuspecting victims.
