Donner Lake Fishing Report
Donner Lake offers excellent fishing opportunities throughout the year. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, brown trout, and kokanee salmon. Current reports indicate that early morning and late evening are the best times for fishing.Anglers are having success using powerbait, nightcrawlers, and small spinners from shore. Boat fishermen are catching fish trolling with flashers and wedding rings at depths of 20-40 feet.
The water temperature is currently around 55°F and visibility is good. Recent catches include rainbow trout up to 18 inches and kokanee salmon in the 12-14 inch range.
Fishing regulations require a valid California fishing license. The daily limit for trout is 5 fish, with no more than 10 in possession.
