Different Ways of Fishing in Pakistan
Pakistan offers various traditional fishing methods that reflect its rich cultural heritage. In coastal areas like Karachi and Gwadar, fishermen use small wooden boats called \“horis\“ for net fishing. The \“bullah\“ method involves using large circular nets thrown by hand into the water.Inland fishing in rivers like Indus involves \“mahseer\“ fishing using rods and traditional baits. Some communities practice \“bhand\“ fishing using woven baskets to trap fish. These methods have been passed down through generations and remain important for local livelihoods.
Modern fishing techniques are also emerging, but traditional ways continue to dominate in rural areas, preserving cultural practices while providing sustainable food sources.
