Countries Not Eligible for DV Lottery 2024

The Diversity Visa Lottery, also known as the Green Card Lottery, is a program that provides up to 55,000 immigrant visas annually to individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. However, for the DV-2024 program, certain countries are not eligible to participate due to having high immigration rates to the US in previous years.

Countries that are not eligible for the DV Lottery 2024 include: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including mainland and Hong Kong), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.

Individuals born in these countries are generally not eligible to apply for the DV-2024 lottery, unless they qualify through a spouse who was born in an eligible country, or in certain cases where the applicant was born in an ineligible country but neither of their parents were born or legally resident there at the time of their birth.

It\“s important to note that eligibility is determined by country of birth, not citizenship. Applicants should carefully review the official instructions from the US Department of State before applying to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements.
