Bream Fishing in Ireland
Ireland offers excellent bream fishing opportunities in its many lakes and rivers. The best time for bream fishing is from May to September when water temperatures are warmer.Popular bream fishing locations include the Shannon River system, Lough Derg, and Lough Ree. These waters hold good populations of quality bream, with fish typically weighing 1-2 kg.
Successful bream fishing requires proper tackle and bait. Use light to medium rods with 4-6 lb line, and feed regularly with groundbait containing maggots, casters, or sweetcorn. Hookbaits should match your feed for best results.
Bream tend to feed in shoals, so when you catch one, there are usually more nearby. Look for features like deeper holes, marginal shelves, and areas with soft bottoms where bream like to feed.
