A Pair in Poker: Understanding the Basics
In poker, a pair refers to two cards of the same rank, such as two kings or two sevens. It is one of the most common hand combinations in the game. When comparing pairs between players, the higher-ranked pair wins. For example, a pair of aces beats a pair of kings.
If two players have the same pair, the winner is determined by the highest side card, known as the kicker.
