Are There Any Scores Not Possible in Football?
When it comes to football, the standard scoring system is widely understood, with goals being the primary means of scoring. However, are there any scores that are not possible to achieve in a football match?Traditionally, in a football match, the scoring options are limited to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and so on, with each goal contributing a single point. Therefore, based on this system, there are no impossible scores.
In professional matches, it is rare to see a team score 20 goals or more in a single match, let alone higher scores. However, there have been exceptional cases where a team scored an extraordinary number of goals, such as the English football team Arsenal\“s record of scoring 9-2 against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in 1939.
While these high scores are rare, they do occur, and there are no inherent limitations within the standard scoring system that would make certain scores impossible to achieve in a football match.
