How Queen Elizabeth II would react to Prince Andrew’s fall from grace

Prince Andrew’s downfall was not caused by mere indiscretions of the past few years but it had been a culmination of deliberate choices he had made during the course of his entire life, sheltered by his doting mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The late matriarch was known for her ‘Never complain, never explain’ which seemed to have backfired for the royals in the current day.

When allegations against the then-Duke of York were made by his accuser Virginia Giuffre, Andrew had vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
Behind Queen Elizabeth’s decision to strip Prince Andrew’s titles

However, after his statements were found to have gaping holes and the car crash interview with Newsnight happened, it all went downhill from there. The late Queen was forced to remove the military titles and patronages. Prince William and King Charles had strongly urged the Queen at the time to take the decision.

Andrew stopped being a working member but enjoyed the privileges of the royal life, uninterrupted. Moreover, according to revelations made in reputed historian Andrew Lownie in his book, Entitled, about the Yorks, have brought to light some shocking activities of Andrew – from shady financial deals to debaucherious activities and arrogant attitude towards royal staff – it begs the question how much the Queen actually knew about her “favourite” child.

Now, a claim suggested that Elizabeth knew about all that went down in his son’s controversial and illicit activities.

The efforts the Palace and the late Queen made to protect has left the public foaming at the mouth.

A user on X, Anita Wilkinson, pointed out, “The Queen blatantly had Andrew walk her down the aisle to Prince Philip\“s memorial service.”

She added, “Not her heir, her eldest son but the disgraced one. She did this knowing what we all now know. Her legacy is being trashed by her favourites.”

Moreover, another user noted that there were emails sent to the Queen’s deputy press secretary from Andrew seemingly “keeping her informed of what he was doing about the allegations against him”.

They noted that Andrew’s “misconduct” are now raising doubts about “how far the Queen was prepared to protect him”.

Royal author Lownie revealed in an interview with The Times that he was surprised by the “sheer brazenness” of the whole thing.

“This is what shocked me, the cover-up from the Palace,” he said. “They knew exactly what was going on. People are not going to like it, but the Queen was colluding in this.”

He continued, “I originally thought she just put her head in the sand. But I increasingly have come to the view that she knew exactly what was going on and allowed it to happen.”
King Charles finally kicks Prince Andrew from the Royal Family

On Friday, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of the shamed royal, announcing that he would no longer use his royal titles and honours as it “distracts” from the work of the royals.

He still denied any wrongdoing and the allegations against him.

The decision is understood to be implemented on Prince William’s insistence by King Charles.

Lownie believes that Charles and his heir are unburdened by the maternal instincts of the Queen to take a much more clear-headed move.
