Prince William receives alarming news days before important tour

Prince William, the founder of the Earthshot Prize, had been preparing to leave the UK in a few days for the much-anticipated fifth ceremony to be held in Rio De Janeiro this year.

The Prince of Wales founded the 10-year programme to find practical solutions to alleviate the planet of its most urgent environmental problems, divided in five important categories. The ceremony this year is scheduled for November 5th. Advertisement

However, there seems to be a major hitch in plans as security threats for the royal increased ten-folds after a gang war erupted on Tuesday leading to terrifying bloodshed and the government scrambling to contain the situation along with the police and army.

“With Prince William and other dignitaries arriving in Rio for the ceremony, security was already heightened,” a source told The Mirror. “But following the unprecedented bloodshed now shed during fierce intergang fighting, the government has drafted in thousands more officers and the military.”

The riots began on Tuesday killing 64 people on Tuesday, including four cops, and 80 suspects arrested.

The insider added that “all eyes will be on Rio while William is there, and there is genuine concern that violence will erupt again while he is in Brazil.”

The military-style operation had targeted Rio’s most powerful criminal organisation for drug trafficking, the Comando Vermelho.

Considered as the “deadliest police operation” against drug gangs in Brazil’s history began on Tuesday but the operation had been planned extensively for two months in advance.

Authorities confirmed that the death toll is at least 121 people overnight but it is expected to rise up to 132.

“We cannot accept that organised crime continues to destroy families, oppress residents, and spread drugs and violence throughout the cities,” President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said in a post on X.
