Prince Harry’s wildlife charity shunned by Chad over shocking claims
Prince Harry is faced with yet another heartbreaking news just months after he was forced to resign from his beloved African charity.
The Duke of Sussex, who has continued to support the charities from his time as a senior working royal, has insisted that he remains dedicated to public service and his charities. Although, another one of his African charities delivered a brutal blow to the royal.
The government of Chad has severed ties with African Parks, non-profit conservation organisation, accusing it of showing an “indelicate and disrespectful attitude” to the government.
King Charles’s younger son was its president for six years but had joined the governing board of directors in 2023.
Chad’s environment minister Hassan Bakhit Djamous announced the “unilateral decision” in a letter that the government is ending its 15-year partnership on Tuesday. He added that there was a resurgence in poaching and there was a lack of investment at the reserves by the charity.
Following the news, African Parks confirmed to The Times that they received an official correspondence from Minister Djamous on Monday, October 6, about terminating the mandates which relate to the Ennedi Natural and Cultural Reserve and the Greater Zakouma Ecosystem, which includes Zakouma National Park and Siniaka-Minia National Park.
The charity noted that it has “initiated discussions” with the ministry and to “explore the best possible way forward in support of the continued protection of these critical conservation landscapes”.
This comes just months after a boardroom battle led to Prince Harry’s resignation from his charity Sentebale. |
