 Prince Edward honours beloved royal after receiving new royal role
Prince Edward earned praise for his service to a special task as the Duke of Edinburgh honoured a beloved member of the royal family.
King Charles has shown a great level of trust to his younger brother, Edward, and his wife Sophie as the royal couple are entrusted with prestigious royal titles that once belonged to their parents.
After his ascension, Charles has granted the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh titles, previously held by the late Prince Philip and briefly by late Queen Elizabeth, and the many patronages that came along with it to Edward and Sophie.
Prince Edward on Tuesday was seen following in the footsteps of his late father as he made his first visit to The Oval as the patron of the Lord’s Taverners.
The charity holds special significance for the royal family, especially the King and his siblings since Prince Philip was once of the founding patrons and 12th man in 1950. The late Duke held the role he held for 71 years.
Now, that role has been bequeathed to Edward as the announcement was made in February of this year.
During the solo engagement, the 61-year-old was seen beaming as played table cricket and met with management as he was praised for “carrying his father’s legacy”.
This is also a significant nod to the monarch as Edward has dutifully taken the heavy responsibility of the position. Charles would be proud and would rest easy to know he made the right decision. |
