Queen Camilla has seen her fair share of royal drama but few stories sparkle quite like this one.

According to Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty, her jewels were stolen from Beaconsfield Services on the M40 back in 2022, just as she and King Charles were preparing for their Platinum Jubilee tour of Canada.

The alleged heist unfolded when royal aides paused for a quick break at the service station.  

A bag clearly marked “HRH The Duchess of Cornwall” was placed in a vehicle that, in an unfortunate twist of fate, wasn’t properly secured. When the team returned, the jewels had vanished faster than you could say crowns and carats.

The incident triggered a rapid royal recovery mission involving security and intelligence teams, with CCTV combed for clues.  

Luckily, the missing jewels were recovered within hours, though the entire episode was kept firmly under wraps to avoid overshadowing Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Jobson describes the ordeal as a “rare lapse in royal protocol” during preparations for Charles and Camilla’s Canadian tour, which was meant to highlight the monarchy’s enduring ties to the Commonwealth.

So while the jewels may have briefly gone rogue, the story remained a royal secret until now.
