  Prince William stands tall in silence at the Cenotaph

Prince William made a dignified return to public duty this morning, standing shoulder to shoulder with his father, King Charles, at the Cenotaph for the National Service of Remembrance where silence speaks louder than any words.

Clad in his Royal Air Force uniform, complete with greatcoat, poppy and sword, the Prince of Wales cut a solemn figure as he bowed his head and closed his eyes during the two minute silence. Advertisement

Having completed seven and a half years of full time military service himself, the future King’s commitment to supporting veterans and the Armed Forces remains a cornerstone of his public role.

After missing last night’s Festival of Remembrance due to travel commitments, William’s presence at Whitehall revealed his enduring dedication to honouring those who have served.  

His absence was covered in graceful fashion by Princess Kate, who attended with their eldest son, Prince George.  

George\“s debut at the Royal Albert Hall was widely seen as a gentle introduction to one of the monarchy’s most meaningful traditions.

Today, the Princess of Wales observed the ceremony from the centre balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, standing beside Queen Camilla as the solemn tributes unfolded below.

Crowds packed Whitehall in a sea of poppies this morning, their scarves, pins and bags blooming red in the crisp November air.  

This year saw around 10,000 participants representing 341 Armed Forces and civilian associations, from those who fought in history’s fiercest battles to the youngest generation honouring their legacy.  

Among them were 20 veterans of the Second World War, six an incredible 101 years old with Arthur Osborne proudly marching as the eldest.
