  Governor-General welcomes Princess Anne to Sydney  

Princess Anne brought her trademark sense of duty and quiet dignity to Sydney this weekend as she led tributes at a Remembrance Sunday service at the Anzac Memorial.  

The Governor-General’s official Instagram shared photos of the visit, captioning, “An honour to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence to Australia for this momentous centenary occasion.” Advertisement

The Princess Royal dressed in an Australian Army uniform adorned with medals was joined by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence and New South Wales Governor Margaret Beazley, in honouring the service and sacrifice of Australian and Commonwealth personnel.

Laying a wreath in solemn tribute, Anne also delivered a poignant reading, reflecting on the century long legacy of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.  

“One hundred years of service, innovation and dedication is a remarkable milestone,” she said.  

“From the trenches of the First World War to modern operations across the globe, your work has enabled communication and coordination under the most challenging circumstances.”

Following the ceremony, Anne travelled to Victoria Barracks, where she attended a parade marking the Corps’ Centenary and later inspected Australian guards with her signature mix of warmth and precision. The day ended with a garden reception for 900 military guests.
