Two traffic cops suspended for misconduct

The Islamabad Traffic Police （ITP） has suspended two traffic officers after a video surfaced on social media showing a biker allegedly being manhandled by officials at a checkpoint - an incident that triggered widespread public outrage and calls for accountability.

Chief Traffic Officer （CTO） Captain （retd） Hamza Humayun took immediate notice of the incident and ordered the suspension of both officers pending a formal inquiry. He emphasized that any misuse of authority while in uniform will not be tolerated, directing all traffic personnel to uphold professionalism and show respect towards citizens during duty hours.



Shahnawaz, a local resident, said, “Citizens must respect the law, but punishment should come from the courts, not individual officers. Law enforcement must remain within its limits.“

Ibrahim, a private company rider, shared his frustration: “Some officials become aggressive when they see riders in our company uniforms. We already work under financial strain - the CTO should ensure fair treatment for all road users.“

Meanwhile, Sarfaraz, a resident of I-9, appreciated the quick disciplinary response. “When senior officers act promptly, it sends a clear message that abuse of power won\“t be tolerated,“ he remarked.
