Meghan and Gloria famously call each other \“Meg\“ and \“Glo\“
Meghan Markle’s trip to New York took a meaningful turn this week as she paid a visit to her longtime friend and feminist trailblazer, Gloria Steinem.
On Monday, October 13, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, was photographed leaving Steinem’s Manhattan home wearing a sleek stone trench coat and dark sunglasses, smiling as her security escorted her to a waiting Cadillac Escalade.
Her solo outing comes just days after she and Prince Harry were named Humanitarians of the Year at a New York gala honouring their mental health and digital safety work.
Since then, Meghan has been catching up with multiple friends, including catching dinner with tennis legend Serena Williams (for which Harry tagged along).
Meghan and Steinem’s friendship began in 2020 when they bonded over their shared commitment to women’s rights and voter equality ahead of the U.S. presidential election. Since then, the pair — who affectionately call each other “Meg” and “Glo” — have maintained a close relationship, frequently joining forces for advocacy work.
Gloria, 91, has previously praised Meghan, 44, as a “great human being” who is “smart, funny and devoted to social issues.” The two famously appeared together in a 2020 conversation for Makers Women, later reuniting after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Reflecting on their bond, Meghan once said she was “pleased to be back in the U.S. for so many reasons” following Megxit, a sentiment Steinem echoed when she welcomed her home during the pandemic. |
