Princess Eugenie joins Simon Cowell’s Cotswolds raising £1.1m for children

Princess Eugenie was among the many famous faces who gathered in the Cotswolds for an emotional day of giving and celebration at a fundraiser hosted by Simon Cowell and his fiancée, Lauren Silverman.

The event, held in the stunning 4,000-acre Great Tew estate in Oxfordshire, raised an incredible £1.1 million for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity more than four times its initial £250,000 target.

The funds will go toward building a new children’s cancer centre at the world renowned hospital.

The day featured a lively clay pigeon shoot attended by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, a gourmet three course lunch by Daylesford Organic, and an energetic auction led by Jeremy Clarkson.

A visibly moved Simon Cowell told HELLO! that the atmosphere was one of unity and compassion. “I really felt that everyone was here for the right reasons,” he shared.

“There was a really good atmosphere. Everyone wanted it to succeed and they were passionate about it. We kept using the word ‘hope’ in the speeches because that’s what this charity gives people hope.”

Princess Eugenie led the royal show of support sharing, “It was very important for me to support Simon, Lauren and Saskia today.”

Having two children of my own, I understand how deeply it changes you being a mum makes causes like this mean so much more. I’m truly honoured to be here.”

Her sister, Princess Beatrice, echoed the sentiment, attending with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. “The most amazing thing about GOSH is that they deliver such wonderful medical care to these children,” she said.

“After having my own children, you recognise that supporting children’s health is one of the most important things you can do with your time.”

Lauren, who is also an ambassador for the charity, added, “I’m honoured to support him as patron.

This is something we’re both so passionate about anything to do with children means so much to us. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of many great things we can do together.”
