 Queen Margrethe inspires Prince William’s next drastic step
The late Queen Elizabeth II shared a special friendship with her distant royal relative, the former Queen Margrethe of Denmark, and now Prince William is drawing inspiration from the Danish royal figure.
The Prince of Wales has recently been barrelling through some major movements inside the Palace as King Charles continues his health battle and weekly cancer treatments. The latest announcement from Prince Andrew to give royal titles and honours also has fingerprints of William all over it.
The 43-year-old heir to the British throne is making big plans to revoke the titles and privileges from non-working royals in dramatic move, reveals a close friend of William to The Daily Beast.
Andrew’s punishment “should have been done by Charles” but William was well aware that his father “doesn’t have the strength because of his illness”, hence he took charge, according to the source.
They stressed that the future king “won’t be afraid to take the next step” and he has been thinking about Queen Margrethe of Denmark “a lot”.  Queen Margrethe signs abdication making son King Frederik X
The Danish Queen had abdicated the throne and made her son Frederik, making him King at the age of 55. Although, two years prior to her abdication, Margrethe removed princely titles from four of her grandchildren - Nikolai, Felix, Henrik, and Athena.
She had said that the decision would give her grandchildren greater freedom to live their lives.
William had made no secret about his next big plans. Most recently, he told actor Eugene Levy in his docuseries, The Reluctant Traveler, that he will make sure that the Firm is “fit for purpose”, noting that he doesn’t fear change.
It also comes as royal sources suggest that the titles for Princesses Beatrice, Eugenie, along with Prince Harry, and his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are also on the line. |
