Buckingham Palace harassed by public after fake Christmas advertisement

Tourists expecting a winter wonderland at Buckingham Palace were left fuming this week after AI-generated images of a festive Christmas market went viral on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

The pictures showed snow dusted wooden chalets, twinkling fairy lights, and a towering Christmas tree outside the royal residence but reality was a soggy letdown.

Visitors arrived to find scaffolding, security barriers, rain soaked pavements, and no market.

The fake posts had promised “a royal Christmas experience” from December 1 to 24, complete with charming stalls, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal delights.

A user declared “The truth behind the Buckingham Palace Christmas market is actually insane… it’s just a shop.”

Kate Ovens warned followers, “If you’ve seen the Buckingham Palace Christmas market on your For You page, just know it’s not real!”

One visitor lamented, “I was going to enjoy a mulled wine, and now I’ve got my chicken sandwiches.”

The Royal Collection Trust has since clarified that there will be no Christmas market at the Palace.

The Royal Mews Christmas Shop is a modest pop up inside the existing Royal Mews space, selling festive merchandise including baubles, toy corgis, and gift sets.

It offers seasonal refreshments but nothing like the extravagant wonderland promised online.
