 Princess Anne prepares for Australian tour
Princess Anne may be King Charles’s most formidable rival not in power, but in pure productivity. Already celebrated as the hardest-working member of the royal family.
The Princess Royal is set to make her relentless schedule even busier next month with a whirlwind tour of Australia and Singapore.
Kicking off on 9 November, Anne will embark on a five day international visit alongside her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.
The royal couple will begin their journey in Australia, where Anne will mark the Centenary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals a fitting engagement for a princess whose commitment to service shows no signs of slowing down.
From 12–13 November, the pair will head to Singapore, where the Princess will celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between the nation and Britain.
It’s hardly unfamiliar territory for Anne, who has visited Australia 20 times throughout her royal career.
The Australian Women’s Weekly once described her as “a little shy,” that early glimpse of resolve foreshadowed the tireless work ethic that would later earn her the title of the monarchy’s most dependable and unstoppable royal force.
“It takes courage for Princess Anne to walk straight into crowds and talk to people,” one outlet observed.
“Once with the crowd, she is happy though she’s unlikely to be smiling as she approaches. Her face is more likely to look thoughtful.”
As the report put it, “Anne has no time for small talk, and she will not insult people’s intelligence with trite remarks or banalities.”
Australia’s Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, added fuel to the rumours in a recent interview with News Corp, saying, “I’m certainly hoping there will be one there’s a standing invitation, and the royal family are always welcome in Australia.”
If confirmed, it would mark the first royal visit to the country since King Charles and Queen Camilla’s six day tour last October and with Anne’s famously steadfast presence leading the way this November, royal watchers are calling it a “double dose” of regal charm headed for Australia. |
