In poker terminology, a cooler refers to a situation where two players have extremely strong hands, but one player inevitably loses a large pot due to the strength of the opponent\“s hand.

This typically occurs when both players have made nearly unbeatable hands, such as one player having a full house while another holds a higher full house or four of a kind.

Unlike bad beats where a player gets unlucky, coolers represent scenarios where both players make correct decisions but one simply ends up with a better hand.

Common cooler examples include set over set, straight over straight, or flush over flush situations where the losing player had little chance to avoid the loss.
