Baccarat is a popular card game often played in casinos. The game involves comparing cards between two hands: the “player“ and the “banker“. Each round of play has three possible outcomes: player wins, banker wins, or tie.
To start, players place bets on either the player hand, banker hand, or a tie. Two cards are dealt to both the player and banker. The goal is to have a hand total closest to 9. Cards 2-9 are worth their face value, aces count as 1, and 10s and face cards are worth 0.
If either hand totals 8 or 9, it\“s called a “natural“ and no more cards are drawn. If not, drawing rules determine whether a third card is dealt. The player hand acts first. If the player\“s total is 0-5, they draw a third card; if 6 or 7, they stand.
The banker\“s action depends on their own total and the player\“s third card. The hand with the total closest to 9 wins. Winning bets on player pay 1:1, banker pays 0.95:1 (due to 5% commission), and tie typically pays 8:1. |
